Strategies that you can implement to market your course in 2022.
The world of online marketing is constantly shifting and evolving. And the ability to keep up with the changes can be quite challenging. There are also trends that come and go… *cough* Clubhouse, and you don’t want to end up investing lots of time and energy in something that isn’t going to give you a decent return on investment. So, I thought I’d help you out and do some research into the best marketing strategies that you can use for your course.
Here are some strategies that you can implement to market your course in 2022.
#1 Native advertising
There’s been a shift towards native advertising in the last year or so. But what exactly is native advertising and how does it work? Essentially, native advertising is paid ads that don’t look like ads – meaning they’re non-disruptive. They’re designed to blend in with your social media feed and look like a regular post. When we scroll through our feeds, we’re looking for interesting nuggets of information. And that’s what native ads provide – they provide relevant and interesting content – while advertising a course, product or service at the same time. There are three main types of native ads: In Feed/In Content Ads, Content Recommendation Ads and Branded/Native Content.
#2 Virtual events & conferences
Since in-person events became difficult, virtual ones took over. A virtual event or conference allows you to get your course in front of an audience that you may not normally be able to reach. Research upcoming events that match your course topic and find out how you can become a speaker and promote your course. And if you can’t find an event to join – why not create your own. Find a group of like-minded people and work together to create your own virtual event. With online conferencing tools, this is easier than ever to set up and run.
#3 Short-form video
Short-form video ties in well with the fast-paced attention spans of online audiences in most demographics. These are things like Instagram reels, Youtube shorts and Tiktok videos. They’re pretty easy to make – and there’s no need to make them look slick or professional. You’re limited to videos of a maximum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds so you need to get to the point fast and try to get a good laugh or teach people something new in a minute or so.
#4 SEO
I like to equate investing in SEO with that famous quote about planting a tree:
“The best time to invest in SEO for your website was 5 years ago. The second best time is today.”
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is the steps you take to make sure that your course, or website is found on Google search. And it’s a long-term but very powerful strategy. SEO in 2022 moves beyond just optimising text and also includes choosing and optimizing the right videos or images to help get your course to rank in Google images or search engine video carousels.
#5 And the good old standard of Inbound Marketing is still effective
What is inbound marketing you ask? Well, it’s marketing that draws people to you by providing valuable content that establishes you as a trusted advisor. Then continuing to engage with them with further valuable content. Also known as lead nurturing, with the ultimate goal being to get them to know, like and trust you enough so that they buy your course.
So now you’re more or less up to date with the marketing strategies that work in 2022, which of these are you going to use to promote your course?
